iron bloom
Iron Bloom is a short, cozy game about six days at home, about the quiet rituals of getting through, and what it means to live in a body that doesn't always cooperate.
Since I was young, I've lived with the monthly rhythm of blood loss, anemia, and the slow work of replenishing what my body gives away. There is an exhaustion that goes beyond the physical: the plans you cancel, the apologies you offer, the frustration of wanting to show up for your own life but having to wait until you feel like yourself again.
The idea came to me in an infusion chair, receiving iron and wondering what it might mean to make the invisible visible.
In Iron Bloom, you move slowly on the difficult days. A plant waits for water. Your reflection loses its color. Small rituals become acts of care, and even the simplest things can feel like a little too much. You tend to what you can. You rest when you must. Somehow, despite it all, something blooms.
I wanted to make a cozy little world for the days that don't feel cozy at all. A place for the exhaustion, the guilt, the loneliness, and the quiet persistence of living in a body that asks you to begin again.
Six days pass. The plant grows. You are still here.
Water the plant. Rest the body. Begin again.
